Making an impact

Healthcare: University Health Network
Where they started
Established in 1873, this university health network is nationally recognized for providing services at 14 campuses and 300+ sites. Across the entire network, they needed to address outdated telephony systems operating at the intersection of life-safety, compliance, legacy infrastructure, and 24x7 uptime.
The foundation we built together
CBTS assessed the client's needs and recommended a robust solution with Microsoft Teams at the center, designed to address the health system’s unique conditions. These include HIPAA encryption and logging requirements; nurse-call compliance for hospital signaling; reliability and redundant infrastructure with dual call servers, geographically separated failover, and backup power; and integration into EHR/EMR platforms, Real-Time Location Systems, and overhead paging and mass notification systems; all with multi-site scalability. CBTS implemented Microsoft Teams Voice for most users, Cisco HCS for analog lines and survivability, and a dedicated Session Border Controller (SBC) to assist with advanced call routing needs.
What they’re building now
To meet ever-evolving needs, CBTS is using a best-of-breed approach to integrate Cisco Webex and SIP trunking for voice resiliency and flexibility.
Retail: Large Grocery Chain
Where they started
The largest grocery retailer in the U.S., founded in 1883, operates more than 3,400 store locations. Customers expect a personalized, omni-channel shopping experience. The retailer lacked both the IT resources and the network bandwidth to deliver it. In addition, an aging supply chain system was making digital innovation time-to-market objectives nearly impossible to meet.
The foundation we built together
Two CBTS agile scrum teams developed a greenfield online grocery ordering system integrated with a third-party supply chain automation platform. A dedicated, high-bandwidth cloud-native network environment was added alongside, giving the organization the infrastructure its digital ambitions required.
What they’re building now
A modernized commerce and operations platform has compressed online order fulfillment from one hour to five minutes. A cloud-native network minimizes downtime and gives the IT team room to innovate without disrupting core operations.

Manufacturing: National Nuclear Power Facility
Where they started
As one of the nation’s largest nuclear power facilities, and an industry leader in safety, and reliability, this client provides carbon-free electricity to a massive volume of homes. They began partnering with CBTS nearly ten years ago for infrastructure support needs and protection of critical workloads and have continued to rely on our expertise as they grow and evolve.
The foundation we built together
CBTS built a solution to run and support a complex AIX platform alongside Windows and Linux workloads. It runs seamlessly within the CBTS Virtual Data Center (VDC) and with fully integrated managed Disaster Recovery services. CBTS has end-to-end accountability for uptime and recoverability. When disaster strikes, the client isn’t scrambling but executing on a proven plan. In addition, CBTS delivered a production-grade Copilot agent in under 60 days. We absorbed all complexity, from Azure CSP tenant setup and federation to agent design, build, and full test validation. The team designed a custom agent, built a rigorous 24-test-case validation framework, and confirmed performance across six operational categories before handoff.
What they’re building now
CBTS is positioned to partner with this client on their next AI mandate for an enterprise platform engagement, consisting of Azure Landing Zone, additional agentic services, and staff augmentation.
Government: State Government Agency
Where they started
With 65,000 government workers spread across 88 counties and nearly 1,500 locations, the state was running on aging, disparate phone systems with no unified solution connecting its schools, higher education institutions, and municipalities. The state needed enterprise-scale communications modernization — without disrupting the services millions of residents depended on.
The foundation we built together
CBTS deployed a fully managed cloud UCaaS solution using the latest digital workplace technologies, replacing fragmented legacy infrastructure across the state’s entire footprint and delivering PSTN voice calling through a next-generation telephony system (NGTS).
Within the first 24 months, the state saved $6.8 million in communications costs. The NGTS platform was recognized by NASCIO as the 2016 ICT Innovation Award winner — the best state-level communications implementation in the country.
What they’re building now
Building upon our 15 year relationship, CBTS continues to engage on new proposals and evolve the technological ecosystem; most recently expanding beyond telephony for additional managed services, delving into AI, and creating automation capabilities to simplify and economize their tech consumption.

Financial Services: Large Regional Financial Institution
Where they started
This large financial services organization provides products and services to consumers and businesses nationwide, with headquarters in Cincinnati and nearly 1,000 locations and over 50 million loans serviced to date. The client aimed to enhance its ineffective IT structure and transition to the cloud. However, the company needed to understand its current environment comprehensively in order to accomplish this objective without adding extra resources. The organization sought an expert provider who could assist in defining objectives and ensuring a successful outcome.
The foundation we built together
CBTS assessed the firm’s requirements and assigned a team of experts to carry out the process. Based on its operations and staff familiarity, CBTS engineers found AWS the most efficient platform.. They migrated 31 apps to AWS in a year — one every other week — while removing 164 unnecessary apps, 598 end-of-life servers, and 468 databases, as well as reducing 25 OS iterations down to two standard versions. The client reduced its data center footprint by 50%.
What they’re building now
A leaner, more agile cloud environment with the flexibility to fold in or divest business units as the enterprise continues to evolve.
Higher Education: Community College System
Where they started
The institution’s 14-year-old network couldn’t keep pace with modern demands. Students were arriving with devices that struggled to connect securely, aging infrastructure was causing daily disruptions, and what should have been a seamless digital experience had become a daily frustration.
The foundation we built together
CBTS started with a detailed site survey, which revealed complexity a simple refresh couldn’t solve. Two solution paths with full lifecycle analysis gave leadership confidence. Deployed during summer break, hands-on through Welcome Week.
What they’re building now
An AI-native network delivering the fastest campus speeds ever recorded. Juniper Marvis AI automates troubleshooting, learns campus rhythms, and proactively surfaces issues — a foundation built for whatever comes next.

Every industry. Every challenge. One partner built for what’s next.
Champion engaged CBTS after experiencing slow Internet speeds, high costs, and poor customer service. They had been paying for an expensive nationwide MPLS network and were facing pressure to reduce IT costs. Additionally, the company found itself increasingly depending on Salesforce and other Software-as-a-Service solutions, which escalated the importance of finding a cost-efficient solution to improve connectivity throughout its branch footprint.
By deploying NaaS and UCaaS, CBTS provided Champion with a better customer, employee, and IT managed service partner experience. CBTS securely set up a virtual network on public Internet for each location and manage the network for all locations through a centralized platform while delivering real-time analytics. Champion is now better prepared for the future, operating in a more agile, flexible, and cost-effective way.
“With CBTS support, we designed an enhanced network with the fan in mind to ensure that everyone in the stadium has access to high-quality, fast, and reliable Internet using the latest Wi-Fi technology.”

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma partnered with CBTS to create a mobile educational environment and prepare for IoT using HPE and Aruba technologies.
“Parallel and CBTS became the single point of contact and the technology roadmap partner Donatos needed to build our store of the future.”
