Founded in the 1950s, this national transportation provider is one of the largest privately-owned people transportation companies in Canada with over 4,100 employees.

Problem
Since its IT infrastructure depended on dedicated hardware and rented space for data hosting with a fixed cost model with little flexibility, the client planned to pull disaster recovery in-house if the CBTS teams couldn’t present a creative, cost-efficient solution.

CBTS solution
The Cloud offered a fresh approach to these critical business functions. With the opportunity to move to a consumption-based model, companies can now access these services at a much more attractive price point. CBTS developed a fully managed, success-based disaster recovery service leveraging Zerto as the replication software and utilizing the Azure public cloud platform as the destination. By moving to a managed model, CBTS takes full responsibility for creating recovery documentation, conducting bi-annual testing, and providing a letter of test performance showing success.

Outcome
CBTS-managed disaster recovery services allowed the client’s internal IT staff to focus on mission-critical initiatives rather than managing risks associated with their legacy infrastructure. By leveraging Microsoft’s public cloud platform, CBTS increased flexibility, scalability, and efficiency for the client’s IT operations.

Based in Ohio, our client has been providing utility data, analytics, and industry knowledge to strengthen customer relationships for over 20 years.

Problem
Our client needed to make changes to keep up with its rapid expansion. It outgrew its current provider and came to CBTS to explore their options that included moving its production environment in-house and getting new hardware. Another option was moving to the Cloud, but the client needed guidance on how to make it happen.

CBTS solution
CBTS worked closely with the client to pinpoint its objectives. During several discussions that compared the cloud OpEx model to the CapEx model of dedicated infrastructure hardware and the flexibility it offers, the client requested CBTS create their new Microsoft Public Cloud Azure tenant for their mission-critical infrastructure and applications. CBTS evaluated its present IT environment for cloud preparedness and developed a roadmap to migrate its existing workloads to the Azure cloud securely. CBTS Managed Services took care of infrastructure maintenance and offered 24x7x365 monitoring, management, and offsite data backup for the client, alleviating their burden.

Outcome
CBTS was able to help the client understand all of the options available so they could make a confident decision based on the recommendations provided to suit their business needs. The client now has a simple, predictable monthly fee in lieu of costly and disruptive hardware and software upgrades.
