BUSINESS OUTCOMES

Outcomes-based assessments

One of the biggest challenges that an enterprise will face in a hybrid cloud environment is managing the complexity, security, and cost drivers that become inherent with running varying workloads on multiple hyperscale platforms.

Tracking data storage locations, identifying which apps are running on which cloud, and ensuring everything operates efficiently can be intimidating for many companies. CBTS understands that every company is unique and a “one size fits all” solution is not the answer. We take a holistic approach to every hybrid cloud strategy.

Case study

The CBTS client provides financial products and services to consumers and businesses nationwide. The company, headquartered in Cincinnati, has nearly 1,000 locations and has serviced over 50 million loans to date.

Problem
The client aimed to enhance its ineffective IT structure and transition to the Cloud. However, the company needed to understand its current environment comprehensively in order to accomplish this objective without adding extra resources. For this purpose, the organization sought an expert provider who could assist in defining objectives and ensuring a successful outcome.

CBTS solution
CBTS assessed the firm’s requirements and assigned a team of experts to carry out the process. The team devised a plan to replace the old infrastructure and migrate to a more proficient, cloud-based one.

Based on its operations and staff familiarity, CBTS engineers found Amazon Web Services (AWS) the most efficient cloud-computing platform for the circumstances. They migrated 31 apps to AWS in a year, equivalent to one app every other week. The team also removed 164 unnecessary apps, 598 end-of-life servers, and 468 databases. CBTS reduced the 25 iterations of operating systems to two standard versions.

Outcome
Our client reduced its data center footprint by 50 percent by utilizing the digital transformation and modernization services provided by CBTS. These modernization projects resulted in saving significant time and money for the business. Additionally, the firm’s journey to the Cloud eliminated underutilized hardware and application licensing, thus improving its security posture.

“Before partnering with CBTS, we did not have insight into the people, assets, and environment that make our company run. Now that we have consolidated assets onto a single domain, we can manage and secure those assets with the flexibility to fold in or divest companies and products quickly as our enterprise evolves.”
